The launch will lead to the offering of high-quality products in Brazil’s North and Northeast
Our company has just launched Max Pure®, our first brand of tissue paper. Our first launch in the consumer goods industry seeks initially to offer high-quality products to consumers in Brazil’s North and Northeast regions. The one-ply and two-ply products will reach consumers in March.
“Customers will be able to buy in major stores across the region a soft and high-yielding product that represents an important advance for the North and Northeast,” said Fabio Prado, Executive Officer of Consumer Goods.
The brand’s products are manufactured at Suzano’s units located in Mucuri, Bahia, and Imperatriz, Maranhão. “We will offer a high-quality product and we’re sure that consumers will immediately perceive the advantages of using the Max Pure® line of tissue paper,” said Prado.
Our tissue paper production started on January 25, after months of planning the project. Before starting to manufacture the consumer product, we invested in the construction of two plants to produce the jumbo rolls used to make tissue paper.
Entering the tissue paper segment demanded investment by our company of R$540 million. With the project’s conclusion, we will have annual tissue paper production capacity 120,000 tons, 60,000 tons of which will be converted into finished goods, such as toilet paper.
Acquisition of Facepa
In addition to investing in the construction of two own plants, we also announced the acquisition of Fábrica de Papel da Amazônia S.A. (Facepa), the largest tissue paper producer in the North and Northeast regions. The acquisition, which already has been approved by Brazil’s antitrust authority CADE, was valued at R$310 million.
Facepa has a wide range of tissue products, including paper towels, napkins, diapers, toilet paper and tissues under various brands. The entire product line is made from pulp, a renewable raw material produced by our company.
