Walter Schalka was elected for his significant work at the helm of Suzano over the past few years
Walter Schalka, CEO of our company, was elected one of the 15 Best CEOs in Brazil by Forbes, one of the world’s most important business magazines. The executives listed by the publication were selected by an external consultancy and by the magazine’s editors based on criteria such as sales, growth, profit and market share. When analyzing the various companies operating in Brazil, the panel highlighted the leaders’ efforts to safely and securely guide their companies through the economic dynamics of the past few years.
The CEO of Suzano Pulp and Paper since January 2013, Schalka has led important movements, such as the company’s migration to the Novo Mercado listing segment and the company’s entry into the Consumer Goods segment.
Before joining Suzano, he worked at Citibank, Grupo Maepar, Dixie Lalekla, Grupo Dixie Toga and Votorantim Cimentos. He holds a B.Sc. in Engineering from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA) and an MBA from the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) in São Paulo and completed non-degree programs at IMD (Switzerland) and Harvard University (USA).
