Our Production

Chain

Planting, growing, harvesting and producing involve much more than you realize.

Each step of our process is planned to positively impact the entire chain. We think beyond our business. We want to create value for society as well. That's why sustainability permeates our entire process.

And, for all this to work, a lot of good people must be involved. There are over 35,000 professionals, direct and indirect, with different accents, origins and ideas, in all steps of our chain.

1

Where it all begins

The eucalyptus tree is carefully planted, cultivated and harvested.

We can tailor pulp to meet our customers' needs and enable new uses and applications. We have, for example, our Eucafluff, a short fiber fluff pulp that is used in absorbent products. From other types of modified pulp, it is possible to produce fabrics, chemical inputs and even cosmetics.

But pulp is not the only thing that can be extracted from eucalyptus wood. We have already mentioned lignin, a part of the plant that can replace fossil materials in various industry segments. We can also generate biofuels. And we're researching other ways of using our eucalyptus to generate bioproducts and make life even more sustainable, in other words, create new consumer solutions.

Time to produce

How to produce pulp and other products from eucalyptus

Once at the mill, the wood logs are chopped into small pieces, called wood chips. In the digester, a machine that acts as a “big pressure cooker,” the wood, in contact with steam and chemicals, is processed and turned into pulp and lignin. To produce market pulp, the pulp is bleached in a chemical recovery process and then dried and baled.

Lignin, which is the material responsible for sustaining and protecting wood in trees, will be used to supply the mill in the form of renewable energy and other market applications.

Once ready, our pulp can follow two different paths:

• Our mills, where we also produce different types of paper, consumer goods, such as toilet paper, napkins and diapers, and even fluff pulp.
• Numerous companies around the world that also produce hygiene products and different types of paper.

Sustainable solutions

Many materials can come from eucalyptus trees.

Transport and marketing

To every corner of the world

Our products are present throughout Brazil and we export pulp and paper to over 80 countries, with sales offices in North America, Europe and Asia. We transport our products by land and water. To this end, we have trucks, ports, ships and rail assets dedicated to our operations in Brazil.

As important as transporting our products from the mills to customers is transporting the wood to the mills. In this process, we work to make logistics as sustainable as possible.

5

Where everything is renewed

Our products enable consumption with less impact

As you now know, our raw material is plant-based, which allows us to develop biodegradable, recyclable products made through more sustainable processes.

This entire chain reaches the lives of over 2 billion people worldwide, including yours! Therefore, we offer many people solutions that replace fossil materials and promote more conscious consumption.
