Suzano Shares Progress in the Construction of Its New Plant in Ribas do Rio Pardo Via Video

Construction of a new pulp plant being built in in Ribas do Rio Pardo by Suzano, a global benchmark in the manufacture of bioproducts developed from cultivated eucalyptus, continues on schedule, with important progress made through November. This month’s highlights included the positioning of the last digester module, the completion of the biomass conveyor to the power boiler, and the energization of the 34.5 kV GIS of the dryer and recovery boiler. Additionally, the company made significant progress in the assembly of combustion gas ducts and performed load tests of the regeneration system at the boiler feed water treatment system.

The video also shows progress in the assembly of the turbogenerators and the completion of the first commissioning with the partial start-up of the cooling and utilities tower and chillers. Projects included in the basic environmental plan are also moving at a fast pace, including the construction of 50 houses for the community, the Estoril II basic health clinic and the Family Shelter, in addition to the new Civil Police Station and the Operational Unit of the Federal Highway Police.

The Cerrado Project

Announced in May 2021 and approved by Suzano’s Board of Directors at the beginning of November that same year, the Cerrado Project is receiving a total investment of R$22.2 billion. Currently, at the peak of construction, the project is creating approximately 10,000 direct jobs. Scheduled to start operations by June 2024, the new plant, which will be Suzano’s most competitive site, will produce 2.55 million tonnes of eucalyptus pulp per year, employing 3,000 people (including company employees and contractors) in the forestry and industrial areas, driving  economic growth in the entire region.
