Suzano, the world's largest pulp producer and a global leader in bioproducts developed from eucalyptus, always committed to social causes, will hold another edition of its "Friends of Life" campaign, this time in partnership with the Medical Departments of its units in Aracruz and Cachoeiro de Itapemirim. The initiative, part of the Voluntariar Program, will take place next Saturday (13), from 8 AM to 12 PM, simultaneously at the Espírito Santo Hemocenter (Hemoes) and Santa Casa de Misericórdia, in Vitória and Cachoeiro, respectively.
In observance of World Blood Donor Day, celebrated on June 14, this initiative has become a tradition at Suzano, which has been organizing it since 2018. The expectation is to gather 20 volunteers for the event, including employees, family members, and third parties. To facilitate participation, Suzano will provide transportation with pre-defined meeting points for those involved.
Participants are being mobilized through the company's internal communication channels, which explain the importance of blood donation and the positive impact it has on the lives of thousands of people who depend on transfusions for medical treatments, surgeries, and emergency care.
Solidarity that saves lives
According to Ludimila Borlini, Suzano's Occupational Nurse, encouraging acts of solidarity is also a way to strengthen the culture of care and social responsibility within the company. "Initiatives like this strengthen the culture of caring for people and social responsibility within Suzano. In addition to helping keep blood bank supplies stocked and assisting patients who need transfusions, they encourage our employees to get involved in social causes, reinforcing values such as empathy, solidarity, and teamwork. It's a way for us to put our guiding principles into practice and reaffirm that it's only good for us if it's good for the world," she emphasizes.
The "Friends of Life" campaign is part of the Voluntariar Program, created by Suzano over 20 years ago. The program aims to strengthen ties with communities near the company's operations and encourages employees, family members, and corporate partners to participate in volunteer actions focused on social transformation.
Among the initiatives developed by the program are projects related to education, sustainability, diversity, equity, inclusion, and quality of life, reinforcing Suzano's commitment to generating positive impacts for society and contributing to building a more sustainable future. Between 2018 and 2024, Voluntariar involved over 15,000 volunteers and benefited approximately 134,500 people, through nearly 70,000 hours dedicated to volunteering.
What is required to donate blood?
- Be between 16 and 69 years old;
- Weigh more than 50kg;
- Be in good health;
- Not be fasting;
- Not have consumed fatty foods in the four hours prior to donation;
- Carry official photo identification;
- Not be pregnant or breastfeeding;
- Not have consumed alcoholic beverages in the last 12 hours;
- Not have had a tattoo or permanent makeup done less than 6 months ago;
